Mee Goreng and Hainanese Poached Chicken - Chatswood Ipoh Club

Image
Source: Taken By Raj C This beautiful, succulent Malaysian meal set itself as a one to enjoy. The smell, the look and even the taste of it was just so satisfying. Well cooked, perfect amount of spices and enough to feed about 3 people. The service of this Ipoh Club was sensational, always happy to help, always asked if everything was okay, and if we needed anything extra. Alongside with the greater customer service, the atmosphere around was brilliant, nice cool air as well as other customers setting the scene, as they dig deep into their meal, enjoying every last bit of it. The kitchen staff were working exceptionally hard, as it got busier by the minutes, the food still managed to come out quicker than expected which was a major bonus to this restaurant. Overall, the food was great, the pricing was reasonable for quality Malaysian food, with the Mee Goreng being at $13.50 and the Hainanese Poached Chicken being at $18, with a members discount. Solid 8/10, definitely would re

Duck Noodle Soup - Sam Thai

Image
Source: Taken By Richard N Duck Noodle Soup From: Sam Thai - Neutral Bay Price: $17.50 Sam Thai is one of those Thai restaurants that exceed my expectations every time I visit. The quality of their food is always high with fresh ingredients bought, prepared and cooked on the same day. I could definitely taste in this dish. Considering duck is one of my favourite meats, I can be a bit bias and will always enjoy it no matter what dish it is. What really makes this dish so delicious is the soup part which is great for cold windy days like these to warm my chest up. The flavours in the soup is very hard to describe as to what it exactly tastes like but it is god damn good. The noodles are nice thin flat rice noodles which are also my favourite style of noodle as they are easy to eat and hold a lot of the soup flavour on it. Service of this restaurant is always great, quick and friendly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that wants some really high quality food a

Beef Fillet in Hot Chilli Oil - Tasty Eating House

Image
Taken By: Miko Monteverde Location: Tasty Eating House - Chatswood Food: - Beef Fillet in Hot Chilli Oil - Rice Price: $30.80 (for 2 people) The reason I came across this place is because I really wanted to try Sichuan cuisine (specific to a certain region of China) and my friend recommend we go. It's 5(ish) minute walk from Chatswood station, located near the banks (important because its cash only.) The dish we ordered is beef fillet in hot oil served with hot chilli oil served with sichuan peppers, dried chilli, spring onions and lettuce. The dish is served with the oil hot enough to cook the beef fillet more if left longer inside. As expected, it was spicy and had a unique kick due to the sichuan peppers - overall a great and filling experience, would definitely come back again. - Miko. M

Pork & Chives Dumplings - Top Dumplings

Image
Place: Top Dumplings Location: Top Ryde food court Price: $10.20 (usually $12 but Top Ryde staff discount) Feeling very peckish after work I went to the shopping centers food court to try out the new dumpling place. I wasn’t sure what was the best on the menu so I asked the worker there who suggested the Pork & chives dumplings 10 piece. I got the steamed dumplings however you can get them either fried or floating in broth as well.   I founded that the price was perfect for what you’re getting, 'nearly $1 for a dumpling'. It smelt incredible making me want to devour it straight away for lunch, taking my first bites the combination of the pork and chives was perfect, with the dumpling texture also good. The dumplings were quite large and were packed full of juice and meat. Initially I was wondering how this will fill me up but surprisingly as I was getting to my last 2 dumplings I was feeling quite full. The service was quick and only took less than 5 minutes

The Colonel, Chips, Fried Chicken Tenders - Chicken & Sons

Image
The Colonel, Chips, Fried Chicken Tenders From: Chicken & Sons - Chatswood Price: $19 (Burger & Chips) + $14 (Tenders) Total: $33 Who loves KFC? I definitely do, but always seem to get sick of it over time if I have it too much. Considering the amount of burger places increasing all over Sydney in the past couple of years, the one that has stood out to me the most is Chicken & Sons. They are conveniently located down the road from in Chatswood Victoria ave. The burger i had today, was one of their classic burgers The Colonel. It has a buttermilk deep fried chicken breast, lettuce, American cheese and ranch sauce. God it was a mighty big burger and was amazing to eat. The fact that they can get a fried chicken breast juicy and tender and have a coating just like KFC's is amazing. Also the burger comes with chips, so it isn't too badly priced. I felt really hungry for lunch so i orderd the buttermilk fried tenders. A bit of regret considering i couldn&#

Seaweed Garlic Butter Wagyu Beef Don - Mikazuki

Image
Source: Miko M Seaweed Garlic Butter Wagyu Beef Don From: Mikazuki Price: $16.50 Reading this off the menu, it was exactly how I had envisioned it but more. This Don ('Donburi' meaning rice bowl) is served with marinated wagyu beef garnished with sesame seeds and spring onions alongside pickled ginger, dry fried garlic, a poached egg and seaweed garlic butter - all atop a base of rice. The beef was quite tender and was well seasoned, it was perfect when accompanied by the rich buttery sauce. The poached egg and fried garlic both helped amplify the favour and texture of the dish when the yolk is broken and mixed in with the rest of, it made the dish more crispy and creamy at the same time. The inclusion of the pickled ginger was a must, since it plays an important role in cutting through the fattiness in the beef and sauce, with it's zingy flavour. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience, definitely worth the experience if you haven't

Grilled Steak - Waterfront Grill

Image
Source: Taken by Shabah H   When the plate first came out, I first thought the dish laid in front of me was a rather simple looking meal. But then I picked up my knife and fork and had a taste. The steak was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. The accompaniment of the mashed potato was a nice traditional option too. All in all, it was a top meal. Implements to the chef. Butter Chicken (extra spicy) and Naan Bread - $22 - Zaaffran's in the city

Image
Source: Taken by Rajan C Butter Chicken with extra spice and Naan - Zaaffran Indian Restaurant When it comes to Indian Food, you can already get a good understanding of what you're about to digest, in this case, a good meal. Zaaffran is known for its all-round tasty menu providing its customers with an enjoyable meal. However, with my visit on Saturday night, changed my perception on the reputation and quality of the restaurant. The customer service was horrendous, no waiter would help serve us, our food when ordered took over an hour to be served, and when it was served, it was cold. We had to ask more than three times if our other main course meals were coming. Even though it did taste good, the food was cold and soggy which took the delightfulness out of the picture. For $22, a normal person would expect high quality food, but unfortunately, that was not the case. This place may have a one off, but from that experience, I would definitely not recommend this place to o

PAD THAI - Red Ginger Thai

Image
Cafe: Red Ginger Thai Source: Photo taken by Shabah As far as Pad Thai’s go, this one was exceptional. Everything was cooked sympathetically and to perfection. The balance between the lime and peanut which left me wanting more. My one criticism of the dish would be the salad which was uninspiring, perhaps a zingy salad rich in lime and chilli would provide a more authentic Thai experience as well as a more complete and well-rounded meal. All in all you definitely get your money’s worth with this meal and would highly recommend ordering it if you come by. Cafe: Red Ginger Thai Signing off - Shabah

Teriyaki Chicken & Avocado Crab Sushi Rolls - Sushi Me

Image
Place: Sushi Me Address: 3 Gladesville Shopng Cntr/Shp Unit 1-3 Flagstaff St, Gladesville NSW 2111 Price: $6.60 ($3.30 each) Today for my lunch I decided to grab some sushi from the local sushi place located in Gladesville shopping center. Upon arrival I could see I was late to the lunch time rush and there was only a few sushi left that I could choose from. I decided I would get two sushi which were $3.30 each which I felt was a reasonable price. The two sushi rolls I got were teriyaki chicken and avocado crab sushi. Source: Tom B Presentation of the sushi rolls looked good from one end however from the other the end of the sushi the insides were all falling out the bottom. However, I still maintained a positive view on the sushi believing that it was falling out the bottom because it was packed with a lot of rice and meat rolled tightly. From First bites in could immediately taste that the sushi had been sitting out for awhile as the rice was very dry that you nee

Chicken Burger - Boronia Park Chicken Shop

Image
The chicken shop in Boronia park makes the best Chicken burger combo in the whole of Sydney’s north west suburbs. Included with this combo you get a large side of chips and a can of your choice of drink. Location is perfect, and the back of the store parking makes getting the burger a lot easier. The Combo comes to the price of $10 which is very cheap for such an amazing burger considering on how filling and delicious it is. Source: Taken By Tom B If you compare the combo to most of the meal and burgers at Maccas you can already tell the burger has been made with love and passion and the chips have the crunch of a French fry but the filling of a real potato. When your initially get the combo, it is presented in a basic take away box however the box is simple to use and contains the meal perfectly and contains the burger very well stopping it from fall apart when The only other chicken shop which could even equate would be Putney’s charcoal chicken however you will never

Bob's Boy - Burger Point

Image
Source: Taken By Miko M Bob's Boy - Burger Point "8 hour Braised Pulled Pork in chilli maple and mesquite BBQ sauce, Burger Point house sauce, jalapeño, topped with kumara chips and tangy garlic dressing." As soon as I read this I knew I had to try it - and the burger didn't disappoint. My first bite, how would I describe it? Amazing - the the succulent pulled pork seemed to melt as I chewed, accompanied by a kumara chips (thin strands of fried sweet potato) created a unique contrast of texture which compelled me to take another bite. The pulled pork had really rich flavor, which I thought could possible overwhelm the burger - but instead I was proved wrong, the tangy garlic dressing and slaw helped cut through the rich pork and bought balance to the burger. I had realised that they used a toasted milk bun for the burger which aided in making a potentially heavy burger, to be light and filling. Leaving me with just enough room for a milkshake!

Persian Food - Persian Flame Restaurant

Image
Place: Persian Flame Restaurant Price: $18 The Persian Flame restaurant is the perfect place to bring large groups of family and friends to experience Persian food for the first time. This place has excellent and cosy vibes with cushioned lounge seating, amazing atmosphere with classic belly dancing. The dish I consumed was one of their classic slow cooked lamb shanks with special Persian rice, lightly fried carrot and potato. This dish is one of my favourites of Persian food as all aspects of the dish compliment each other when combined. The price is very reasonable for $18 per dish or can get $100 platters which will serve six very hungry people which acquaints to about $17 per person. This includes bread, condiments and plenty of main dishes, well worth the price. I would recommend this to any one who is interested to experience something different and have fun dancing with the belly dancers! By Richard. Photo source: Taken by Richard Naylor

BBQ Meat Lovers

Image
WOW! This juicy BBQ Meat Lovers pizza looks sensational. At first sight, I was in love, the sauce, the crust and the meat look cooked to perfection. For $16.50 at the Ubar, Macquarie University, I could already picture the taste. After the first bite , my eyes lit up. It was probably one of the best pizza's I've ever tasted. The atmosphere around me made my experience a lot more enjoyable. The bulge in my stomach was getting bigger as I mowed down into each and every slice. I would highly recommend this place to all university students currently at Macquarie, 7/10. First time ever trying this pizza, and definitely won't be a last!

Seafood Linguine - Bar Pizza

Image
Place: Bar Pizza Price: $27 Throughout my years of living near this sleek Italian restaurant, I have only been several time but never had I tried anything other than pizzas on the menu. For a change I decided to try out the pasta range for dinner ordering the seafood linguine. My first impressions were it was a small quantity for the price of $27 however it looked very appetizing and was presented at a Master Chef level. My first bites of the pasta were amazing, the slightly spicy salsa and sauce was very creamy and worked well with the mix of seafood ingredients which consisted of scallops, mussels, prawns & calamari. As I was eating the delicious pasta I realized that for a poor uni student like myself this was way to expense, though it was probably one of the best linguine I have had ever tasted. Was it worth the price? Kind of if you think about how scrumptious and tasty it was. But with the small amount and how I ate it in seconds it left me wanting more like a chub

Chicken Parmigiana - The Royal

Image
Source: Camera Price - $26 This chicken parmigiana fulfils itself with a nice first look impression. They way it's set up leaves positive vibes and an enjoyable experience for dinner. At the price of $26, even though it was delicious, it is not worth the money and its over-priced. The Royal at Top Ryde proves itself as a parmigiana specialist, however, competitors may have the upper hand due to lower prices, and more crispier chips. Overall it was a well prepared and filling parmigiana, however i wouldn't recommend it due to high prices. By Raj
